Friday Night Drinks - What I Wore

I love this lacy ruffled top! I'd been debating how to wear it without making it seem to fluffy or gimmicky. Of course regular old jeans were the easiest way to go, but I may try it next time with a pair of white skinnies.

Shirt - Alberto Makali
Jeans - David Kahn
Shoes - Payless

I also wore Urban Decay's Shattered, which is a great turquoise with a sort of gold under tone. If you dip your brush in water and wet the shadow it makes a great (but intense) liner.

Tyson TV

So I watched this guy on public access tonight...you've got to check him out...www.howtodotherobot.com. Ok, so the ad is funny, but you can actually see him dance here.
(Click on the first screen on the left.) He's really good, you can also find him on youtube actually demonstrating how to do the robot.
Enjoy.

More Vintage Gems

Here's a quiz for you...

Do you know what these little vintage goodies are?...

I'll give you a hint...

They're sweater clips! How cool are these! I've seen them in old movies, but never in person.

I may just have to go retro by sporting a pair of short pants, flats, a cardigan and a swingy ponytail.

This one is my favorite.

And don't forget...wearing vintage is stylish recycling.

Vintage Jewelry

I received some beautiful vintage jewelry recently. I haven't worn any of it yet, but I'm certainly looking for the right time. It's clear that the original owner took great care of her gems and I want to do them justice.

These are just a few of the pieces. I'll post more when I take the pictures.

Ladytron and What I Wore

I went to a Ladytron show last week, (among all the other million things that kept me crazy busy,) and it was wonderful! The weather was hot but oddly refreshing and I got to wear my favorite maxi dress.

Ahh, the first outdoor show of the summer! I can't wait for more!

Saturday Shopping - Pedicures and Sandals

The day started out with manicures and pedicures.

(This is Joella's foot...)

which with the beautiful weather made it necessary to go sandal shopping.

These will be perfect for walking my nephew to the pool.

How cool are these!?!
They were the find of the day and now I'm thinking about going back and picking up a pair for myself.

This is a better picture of her fun toes!

And these were just far too hot to pass up. I found a similar pair in a light tan, but the black fit me better...I'll probably wear them with everything...I have a look coming to me now...look for it soon.

Burberry Prorsum Fall '09

I can't believe I'm going to say this because it's barely spring, but I've been reviewing some of the Fall '09 Runway Shows and already I can't wait for it to cool down!

I'm hooked on Burberry's looks...

I have to find some type of chunky boot like this!

OK, Ok, not yet, no winter clothing yet. It will be many months before Texas will even think about being cold enough to wear something like this. I haven't even worn shorts yet!

Brunch at The Belmont

Hooray! It's a beautiful day and I sort of get a day off, (I get to hang out with my nephew later.) I got to go out for brunch at the Belmont, (www.thebelmontaustin.com) which is a treat, because I've been trying to save money and eat healthier, and while the price was reasonable ($14.95 per person,) other than the fruit they served, healthy is debatable, but certainly delicious.

Here's what I wore...

Which I'll be changing out of before my nephew gets here, because I noticed last night at dinner, reaching out for a hug could very easily mean your shirt is being used as a napkin or kleenex. Gross.

What I Wore to Work- Shirt Dress

I know you've probably seen this one before, but it's a favorite of mine. The shirt dress is one of the easiest, most versatile pieces a wardrobe can have. It's perfect dressed up with leggings and heels for work or paired with jeans and sandals for the weekend.

And by the way, all you work-place-dress-code-enforcers, leggings with shorter skirts (I don't mean minis,) is a trend that is still going strong. It's not going away. Embrace it.

Envirosax - Fashionable Grocery Shopping

Cool website/idea alert!

Check out www.envirosax.com. They have the most stylish, reusable grocery bags at the most reasonable prices around! The polyester bags are not only waterproof and have the most adorable patterns, but each bag can carry up to 44 pounds each! That's a lot of catlitter (or salad or chicken legs or whatever you happen to buy or carry in bulk.)

I can picture myself with the Flora Pouch,

which is a set of 5 bags that I could coordinate with just about any outfit. J4 would love the Retro Kitchen Pouch,

and Mom could get rid of all her mismatched bags that she carries for work with the Amazonia Pouch...but wait...I may be giving away X-mas gifts here. And you don't have to buy 5, you can buy a single bag as A. did (who happened to introduce me to the product,) and they aren't just for groceries. I imagine any of the Monochromatic bags could work for anyone.

(Monochromatic Bag 4)

Hey, I'm just trying to help you stay cute and keep plastic bags from wrapping around some poor bird's beak.

The Black and White Wardrobe

There is a certain breed of people out there who wear only black and white with a few shades of gray in between and they seem perfectly happy. Don't they miss color? What about a red shoe?

A co-worker of mine is one of these people. Her reasons? It's easy and she always matches even when she's running late. She also manages to pull off classic, chic looks every day. I have a large collection of black shirts, but they're mostly t-shirt style and not really very interesting at all. So what makes her wardrobe work so much better than mine? She has a great selection of simple but well structured dresses and tops that she layers over pants and dark denim and is never without one cool accessory. (It also doesn't hurt that she has the most naturally beautiful, black, modelesque head of hair...)

So the question I ask-Is this fashion cheating or fashion brilliance? I'm not sure, but I came across some goodies as I was researching this topic that could make me give up my "colorful" lifestyle...you know what I mean...(and of course I didn't take these photos...)

Phi Spring 2009...This floaty tunic/dress would be perfect for Texas weather!

Dear Heart, meet Dillian from Christian Louboutin. I admit, this was love at first sight. Sigh...

This Herve Leger Ombre Dress is amazing! And of course I would need to be much taller and much richer for this dress, but a girl can dream!

Well, I'm not convinced that a wardrobe this basic would satisfy me. Maybe I could get away with it for a week but I know I'd be craving my green flats, and my yellow clutch, and my new turquoise wedges, and...
