I Need This In My Closet-Debbie Carroll Necklace and a Giveaway

I am in love with this necklace...

(Photo from Debbie Carroll Designs)
It's the Modern Stone Age Necklace from the Etsy site Debbie Carroll Designs. The Fire Agate stones feel Boho but the rectangular shape gives them a modern twist while the little round fuchsia jade "pearls" come off as slightly preppy and I can envision wearing it with everything from a billowy blouse and cut off shorts to a safari style dress like this one from 3.1 Phillip Lim...

I met Debbie for the first time last fall and she's absolutely adorable and incredibly talented! Not only does she create gorgeous and fun vintage inspired jewelry but she also does these great water color cards...

And best of all, one of you lucky readers will be the winner of one of her warrior rings...

That's right, a giveaway!
To enter, go to her Etsy store here, then leave me a comment about which of her gems would dress up your spring wardrobe! In 2 weeks (that means it will end on Sunday March 13th) one of you will be chosen by random and the ring will be yours!
Good luck!

Breaking My Makeup Rut

It's been a long time since I've played in my makeup box. But I figured since the boyfriend was busy adjusting the color on the TV, I'd adjust the color of my eyes.
Normally I'm the more natural makeup girl with a dash of color on the lids, easy and fast so I can get to work on time. But since time happened to be a luxury at the moment, I decided to take advantage of it and do something a little more intense.
So after flipping through "Making Faces" by Kevin Aucoin,

(which is a bit like a makeup bible to me as most of his books are,) I decided to try out the Glamorous look from page 60. It was actually very easy except for rimming the inside upper eyelid which took me a really long time and makes my eyes water like mad! (Anyone with ways of making this easier, please let me know.)
But the effect makes me happy...

I didn't use the recommended red lip since I was headed out to teach a ballet class and a face full of makeup seemed like a bit much but it would be nice for an evening out. But I will be trying this look (and others) again.

But this has officially taken me out of my makeup rut and I'll give myself a few extra minutes before work to try something different.

Pedicure Cheat

You know those days when winter has passed and you pull your favorite sandals out of the closet...and discover your toenails are suffering from the lack of a good pedicure? (One can hardly admire the first spring sandal wearing without nice looking feet!)

N.Y.C. Quick Dry Nail Polish in Mulberry Street (212B) is the answer! It is the perfect neutral , with the perfect amount of shine. I was in a hurry recently and only applied one coat but it was enough and it dried without a smudge by the time I finished brushing my teeth! (I never get away without a smudge!)

Lanvin Resort s/s 11

After a chilly February evening of web fashion surfing, I have decided that Alber Elbaz has done it again and Lanvin has one my favorite resort collection! The silhouettes are as incredible as ever making every look chic and yet super feminine. See for yourself...
