It's Perfect Weather to Pull a Cape Out Of My Closet

Due to the sudden drop in temperature today, I decided to pull out this cape/wrap that Mom sent me for Xmas...

It's made of wool but it isn't the least bit scratchy, it's actually really soft and I could easily fall asleep in it. It's a comfortable cozy look with gray jeans and a copper leather belt which is exactly what the day called for, but I am also having ideas for it with a chocolate brown dress and maybe something with sequins which is probably a far stretch, but we'll see. (Bebop is wanting in on the picture...)

Now Ty can't help but investigate the scene!

I'm trying something different with my bangs...I get bored with them easily, but I'm not really very good at "doing" my hair.

Ok, I'm going to curl up in front of the fireplace since this will be one of the 3 times we light it all year.

I'm Pulling My Sewing Machine Out Of The Closet

This is what the day looks like today...

It goes along with how I'm feeling...a bit run down and very congested. Yes, a cold! It's not very encouraging. At least it's in the 60's otherwise I'd really be complaining.

It looks to be the perfect day for alterations...we'll see what I end up with.

New to My Home - New Kitchen Closet

After putting it off for about 5 months, I've finally installed shelving in my kitchen. The kitchen was remodeled in August/September, but the closet wasn't part of it. Originally, this space was used for the washer and dryer but those went out into the garage.

Actually, I did attempt to install them in October but that ended up in a disaster and me screaming...it takes a lot for me to get to that point but I had it that day. The wire shelves dug into the wall and I had to spackle the hole and repaint it. And no shelves were hung.

(Some damage from my previous attempt on the right hand wall.)

This time however, it worked out beautifully. I was nervous about putting the microwave on a shelf but it held! Hooray! It did take me a long time to do it though...I recommend a good drill. Mine is so wimpy.

Ok, it's been a long day. I'm going to bed.

In My Closet- Always Worn + Never Worn = New Boho Look

I have again stumbled across a top in my closet that I've never worn.

I'm not sure why this I always bypass this one when digging through my closet because it's actually a very cool shirt. (Unfortunately the tag is ripped out and I'm not sure who the vendor is.) The sleeves are a lacey crocheted fabric while the body is a stretchier knit with corseted detail. It's a great dusty pink with a print that's not quite a floral and looks great with browns and neutrals as well as black. Maybe it's because of the big sleeves...I usually tend to be a bit more tailored and they make the top a bit more boho.

I combined it with one of my favorite skirts-it's from Sears of all places! I was buying a refrigerator with my boyfriend and while he paid for the fridge I dug through their clothing racks for fun and found this for $6.99. It was two sizes to big but after taking in the waist and hemming it up about three inches I had a fun, floaty, flirty skirt that I can wear with almost any of my shoes, and I adore it with my over the knee boots! It ups the boho vibe even more.

I decided that a giant bag was probably enough accessory for me and the neutral brown- gray shade is perfect.

So what do you think? Is this top a keeper? Should I stick to my rules and try to make two more looks with it?

Thinking About Adding to My Closet - Asymmetrical Dresses

The New Year has me crazy (in a lot of good ways!) and it's been a while since I've had the opportunity to post, so please forgive me.

Anyway, the Texas weather has been crazy...we even had snow on Xmas Eve...which has required a lot of creative layering. I have no problems with wearing all my favorite items at once, but I'm starting to long for dress weather to return! Actually, for no reason in particular, I've been attracted to asymmetrical cut dresses, which used to just drive me insane! It just looked so wrong to my eye.

But this morning while I was sifting through the Bergdorf Goodman site (that's where all the photos are from,) these lovely dresses caught my eye and I think I could be happy with any of them in my closet...

This Alice and Olivia number would be perfect right now...it shows off a little skin at the shoulder, but the fuller skirt would hide those extra holiday pounds. With a pair of tall over the knee boots and bright red lipstick, it could be so fun!

If asymmetrical always looked as good as this Lanvin dress does, then I probably would have never had a problem with it in the first place! It could be pulled off for so many occasions! A strappy, sparkled sandal would take this to a wedding but imagine it with a thick platform pump for the office! (If you happen to work in such a stylish place...)

And what can be said for this sexy Rachel Roy? I love the thick pleated shoulder and it could be so glamorously retro with a vintage fur (faux or otherwise,) thrown over it. HOT!

Well I guess I'll be waiting (in the rain today) for dress weather and enjoy the layers while I still can because I know soon enough that I'll be praying for winter to come back!
